American Conference of Cantors commends the decision to strike down California’s Proposition 8

The American Conference of Cantors commends the decision to strike down California’s ballot
proposition banning same-sex marriage, Proposition 8, as unconstitutional by the Ninth Circuit Court of
Appeals. The ACC stands with the Central Conference of American Rabbis (CCAR) and the Religious
Action Center (RAC) lauding this critical decision to bring marriage equality nearer to reality. We have
long supported the rights of all individuals of our community. In June of 2000, the ACC affirmed sanctity
of Jewish ritual for same-sex couples; in 2007 our membership once again resolved to support lesbian,
gay, bisexual, and transgender civil issues. We continue to affirm our abiding commitment to protecting
the rights and dignity of all LGBT individuals, couples, and families.
