ACC Welcomes newly certified and ordained cantors & celebrates with our 25 year members
SCHAUMBURG, IL: The American Conference of Cantors (ACC), a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional growth and development of cantors in the Reform Movement, congratulates the following Cantors upon their certification from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music: Cantor Sarene Ann Appelbaum, Cantor Sheera Miller Ben-David, Cantor Rachel Gottlieb Kalmowitz, Cantor Neil Spencer Michaels, Cantor Rachel Ellen Reef-Simpson, and Cantor Lori Belkin Shapiro. These members will be officially voted into membership of the ACC on May 20, 2016, by the executive board of the ACC. Additionally, the following members of the ACC received their honorary Doctor of Music degree during the graduation programs at the Los Angeles and New York campuses: Cantor Mark Eric Childs, Cantor Elizabeth Martha Goldmann, Cantor Nancy Nolan Kassel, Cantor Martin Daniel Levson, Cantor Nitza Amit Shamah, Cantor Deborah Ruth Staiman, and Cantor Josephine Elizabeth Margalith Wolff. These members, along with two graduates of the Jewish Theological Seminary, Cantors Janet Roth and Arthur Katlin, also celebrating their 25th anniversary in the cantorate will be honored at the ACC-GTM convention in Philadelphia on Sunday, June 26, 2016. They will be presented with the “Sh’liach Tzibbur Award” in recognition of twenty-five years of devoted service to Judaism and the cantorate by Cantor Mark Goldman, ACC president. Finally, in anticipation of their ordination on Sunday, May 8, 2016, the ACC wishes a hearty mazel tov to the following newly ordained Cantors: Cantor Laura Paige Breznick, Cantor Nancy Beth Hoffman Dubin, Cantor Kenneth Jay Feibush, Cantor Emma Rose Goldin Lutz, Cantor Lauren Beth Levy, Cantor David Richard Malecki, and Cantor Jay Isaac O'Brien. These members will be officially voted into membership of the ACC on May 20, 2016, by the executive board of the ACC.
