SCHOLAR WORKSHOP WITH DR.TALI TADMOR: SONG ACCOMPANIMENT - DECONSTRUCTED

Dr. Tali Tadmor will analyze the individual elements of song accompaniment beginning with structural elements such as rhythmic feel, harmony and melody, performance elements such as dynamics and articulation, and ensemble and stylistic elements. Through use of specific musical examples, some of which will be provided by workshop participants, Tali will isolate the choices available through each musical dimension, demonstrating their effect on the overall sound in a way that is specific to contemporary (and traditional) Jewish music. In addition, we will look at “Jewish Karaoke” - so many Temples are relying on pre-recorded accompaniment tracks at this time. Looking ahead to the High Holyday repertoire, Tali will share her tried and true tricks for recording accompaniment tracks that are beautiful, intuitive, and fail-proof. Moderated by Cantor Jen Roher. A PDF is available here. A link to the other materials is available here.
