
Accounting and Group Benefits Administration
Our established, busy, not-for-profit organization seeks a full-time, collaborative staff member to join our office team. This organization is governed by an officer team and executive board that is located across North America. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required as much of the work of the organization is done via telephone and email.
This is a small, collaborative office located in the Schaumburg area. Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The office is closed on all major US and Jewish holidays.
Responsibilities:
- Accounting responsibilities:
- Processing payments including:
- Deposit cash, checks, and money orders into ACC accounts (sometimes in person).
- Process electronic payments made on the ACC website.
- Processing dues and donation payments including:
- Lump sum or monthly installments.
- Working with the ACC Treasurer to maintain lists of members for dues payments including paid, unpaid, forgiven, etc.
- Supplying reports for payments collected (and pledged) for various fundraising campaigns.
- Processing member data changes in the member tracking software and communicating changes to Placement-Membership Assistant for input on website and directory change database.
- Maintain good relations and clear communication with the CCAR, NATA, NATE, and the Cantors Assembly with regard to Member Dues and discounts applied for dual organization members.
- Track targeted donations and special fundraising project donations such as the annual ad journal.
- Send donation acknowledgement letters.
- Processing payments including:
- Retirement Plan and Insurance Plan responsibilities:
- Shared work with other staff members to ensure ACC members receive correct information on the ACC Retirement and Insurance Plans.
- Maintain ACC website with updated information,
- First point of contact for member congregations for various contribution systems.
- Responsible for compliance and tracking for IRS regulations.
- Partner with Fidelity and legal counsel to comply with laws and regulations governing employee benefits.
- Liaison to Chair, Board of Trustees, ACC Office, Participants and vendors to resolve issues as needed.
- Implement and maintain efficient procedures to process pension contributions and distributions for members throughout the United States.
- Travel for annual meeting of the board of trustees, professional development opportunities, and annual ACC convention (when in North America).
Requirements:
- Ability to come to the office 3-5 days per week.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to details.
- Ability to work as an effective member of a team.
- Excellent computer and telephone skills.
- Working knowledge of employee benefits, 403b9 Church Plans, and insurance plans.
- A working knowledge of Reform Judaism is helpful. Either previous work in temple, synagogue, Jewish day school, or Jewish organization, or experience working in another non-profit organization outside the Jewish community.
- Degree or applicable experience required.
Computer skills should include:
- Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- ShulCloud or other “member tracking” software.
- QuickBooks or similar.
- Drupal 7.0 or later.
- Fidelity software such as Plan Sponsor Webstation (PSW) or Simplified Contribution Platform (SCP) or other retirement plan system software.

Salary range: $50,000 to $60,000
