SCHAUMBURG, IL:  The American Conference of Cantors (ACC) <www.accantors.org>, a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional growth and development of cantors in the Reform Movement, is pleased to welcome the following newly ordained cantors as members of the ACC:  Cantor Tracy Fishbein, Cantor Vicki Glikin, Cantor Luke Hawley, Cantor Julia Katz, Cantor Elana Rosen-Brown, and Cantor Michelle Rubel. These recently ordained cantors from the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music were admitted to “regular membership” on Friday, May 18, 2012 by action of the Executive Board of the ACC, in accordance with Article V, Section 1 of the ACC Constitution.

Although the ACC Placement season is still active, many of the recent ordainees have completed the process and will be serving Reform congregations this summer. Cantor Fishbein will be joining The Temple, Congregation Ohabai Sholom in Nashville, Tennessee; Cantor Glikin will be joining Temple Solel in Highland Park, Illinois; Cantor Katz is joining Central Synagogue, New York, New York as Assistant Cantor; and Cantor Rubel is joining Temple Emanu-El, Westfield, New Jersey as Assistant Cantor.

Cantor Susan Caro, ACC president, remarked at ordination, “I want you to know that you are entering into a wonderful and consequential life; take full advantage of the depth of collegiality that awaits you among the members of the ACC, with our support, encouragement, guidance, good counsel, warmth and friendship. With great pride, I welcome you as companions in the sacred work of our vocation and in the life of our Conference.”

The ACC is currently in the final planning stages of our annual ACC-GTM Convention—to be held this June in Portland, Oregon.  Over 200 ACC and GTM members will be in attendance for this annual gathering being held at the Red Lion Jantzen Beach Hotel on the Columbia River.  For more information on the Convention or the ACC in general, please contact 847-781-7800.
